When creating Josephine Curriculum & Writing, my goal was to stay true to my vision of lifelong learning and service through writing partnerships.
I believe in dreams, and I believe in putting in the work to see those dreams to fruition. My teaching and mentoring career began in undergraduate school as a literacy volunteer and continued in the forms of private tutor, fiction and poetry editor and mentor, teaching assistant, ESL instructor, pre-GED classroom instructor, and university lecturer of English.
I know that you can do this, and I am here for your journey,
~ JoAnn
JoAnn LoVerde-Dropp earned her Bachelors of English in Creative Writing from the State University College at Brockport in 1991, a NYS Secondary English Teaching Certification from Roberts Wesleyan University in 2003, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing in 2010.
She served as a member of the Board of Directors (2014-17) and President (2017-18) for the Georgia Writers Association and on the Executive Board of Kennesaw State University's MAPW literary journal, The Crambo (2017-18).
JoAnn's writing tends towards the surreal and the quirky. Her true loves are poetry analysis, writing, mentoring aspiring poets, and self-reflecting through the Tarot.
Josephine is the middle name of my grandmother, Nellie Josephine Musoni, a woman of eternal patience and enduring love.
Hers was a home of magic - the house itself represented the sun and the moon with its front yard facing a neighborhood street full of children and clattering doors and a back yard lined with shady, wooded trails.
I returned to her house in Meadville, Pennsylvania not long ago, wondering if the enchantment would hold and half expecting to see my childhood summer family and friends appear with ribboned handlebars and skateboards. Friends, it felt exactly the same - magical.
